YWAM Heredia, Costa Rica:

The GREEN Base

"Knowing God and Caring for His Creation"

We are located in Los Angeles de San Rafael de Heredia. The property is on the northern hills of the Central Valley and sits at about 4,500 feet above sea level. It is 6 acres of cypress, fruit trees, and pasture. We have goats, chickens and an organic farm which provides us with food and many learning opportunities. The average temperature here is 72ºF and we get about 100 inches of rain per year. We currently have capacity for teams of up to 50 people and hope to be able to house as many as 200 in the near future.

Ours training schools are accredited with the University of the Nations. For many Central Americans the cost to travel and difficulty obtaining visas makes it almost impossible for them to go to other countries to study. A campus right in the heart of Central America puts it within $100 and a one day bus ride for most students.

Our goal is to inspire our students to have a passion for the lost and to equip them with the tools to reach them.  We also teach them to minister to the whole man, body, soul and spirit.  To minister not only to their spiritual needs but also to provide practical assistance for their physical needs such as clean water, hygiene, sanitation and sustainable agriculture.  If you are ready to make a difference come and join us.

Greetings from

Terry & Donna Keith Base Leaders

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our website.  We hope that this website helps you get to know about us and what we are doing at YWAM Heredia.

Our history in Costa Rica goes back to 1974 when we moved down here to pioneer a ranch in the southern jungles.  We have lived and worked (off and on) in Costa Rica for the last 32 years and have always considered it our second home.  In 1985 God asked us to sell our ranch and move to Miami, Florida to join Youth With A Mission.  From the beginning, it was always our desire to develop a YWAM ministry in Costa Rica to prepare and send Costa Rican young people into world missions.  In the late eighties my wife and I began to bring short term teams down here to work.  In 1990 the first operating location was opened up in Birri which is not far from the present location of the base.  In 1994 the base moved to San Rafael, but, in 1998 they relocated to Los Angeles where we are today.
