EARS (Environmental And Resources Stewardship)
EARS January 2012 We will soon begin our 5th EARS school this coming January and already we are receiving applications for our next excited students who want to learn about God's creation. For the outreach, we have many possibilities for the coming school - - like working alongside refugees in Taiwan, or helping rebuilding efforts in Haiti, or environmental / medical work with Massai in Kenya, among others. We successfully ran four previous EARS schools, graduating 20 students and many of them are serving as staff in other locations. The Jan. 2008 school did their outreach with the Maasai in Loita Hills, Kenya, and another school was split with a couple going to Mbita, Kenya, and the rest to Ometepe, Nicaragua and then to do relief work in Haiti after the earthquake. The techniques learned in the EARS have been used and demonstrated wherever the teams have gone, and have shown to be valuable in expressing God's love to many needy people. Our base has a creation care focus, and our base theme is "Knowing God and Caring For His Creation." We try to practice what we teach, so we recycle, and we use our food scraps to create compost to fertilize flower and garden areas. We raise chickens and goats, which produce meat, eggs, milk and cheese for our use, and we have one horse on base. Along with many of our projects like water collection tanks and water-purification methods, we are also close to finishing an aquaculture project to raise Tilapia and vegetables. We hope to finish construction of a bio-digester during this coming school. Our goal is to train missionaries in sustainable agriculture and appropriate technology which will help them meet the needs of the poor and hungry all over the world. We are accepting applications for this next school - scheduled to begin January 2012. Please contact us for costs or other information.
