transformation and development; Help, support and strengthen the local church and mobilize it to world missions.
HISTORY of the pioneer team in Nicoya
It has been two years since the Silva family moved to Guanacaste and the pioneer base has been active. We were sent by the base in Heredia and continue to operate under their covering. We minister in the rural villages in Nicoya, which (like any place in Latin America) have a strong catholic influence. Families have often lived in the same place for many generations and the machismo attitude that is a strong stereotype of Latin Americans is even stronger in the rural villages. This brings problems of infidelity and alcoholism. There are many areas of injustice and very few opportunities for the youth. We believe God has brought us here, to the “middle of nowhere” to be a strong Christian influence, to be instruments of His justice and transformation to many forgotten communities.
vation and abundant life in Jesus Christ; Support and teach communities toward biblical
In the last two years many things have happened. Besides moving into the community, adapting to the culture and building relationships, we have established some regular ministries. These include English classes, kid's club, youth meetings, discipleship group and soccer. When we've had teams here we've also undertaken projects such as concerts, church events, team outreaches, building projects, helping schools, children's and youth camps and work in new communities. We want to see God call more people to be able to be an active influence in many communities through different ministries. We also have a dream to establish a ministry for pregnant teenagers.
nd development; Help, support and strengthen the local church and mobilize it to ions.
It has been beautiful to start seeing some of the fruit from the past two years of ministry; there have been a number of conversions this year. Wednesday nights we have a group for these new converts to study the Bible and get deeper with God. One of the new believers is doing a Discipleship Training School with YWAM in Heredia and another one that used to be in drugs will be going to a bilingual high school to finish his studies.
NOW
As we move into the fall and an upcoming year of ministry, Diego and Salla Silva with their three children are working on building their own house and moving out of the ministry house soon. We are excited to have a new couple who has come to serve with us. Erick & Lisa are a young couple who felt God direct them here while they are working towards immigration back to Canada. We have also had another short-term couple here from England. Besides the regular ministry activities we are also working on a school uniform distribution, kid's camp and we are already booking teams, preparing ministry and recruiting summer staff for next summer.

PRAY WITH US
We want to ask you to pray with us about the challenges we face and the needs we have right now:
* Bigger space: fixing and renovating the ministry house
OR getting something new
* Sound system for presentations and activities
* Web-page for the ministry
* Regular monthly support for the ministry, $500/month
to cover the bills & rent for the ministry house, trans-
portation, materials and supplies, tools, maintenance, etc.
* Longer term workers, who are able to take leadership of
some of the ministries, multiply them to new communities
and see them through.
THANK YOU!
