April Highlight
This month, I would like to share about another family on the base. Two years ago, Cinthia Sibaja, (one of our students), introduced us to her family. They were going through a difficult time and needed a place to stay, so we offered to let them stay at the base until things stabilized for them. Well, right away they jumped in and helped with whatever needed to be done. As we got to know them, we discovered that God had called them into missions many years ago, but they hadn't had the opportunity to do it. It wasn't long before it became clear to us and to them that they were supposed to stay and join us, and for them to begin preparing for a career in missions. Mario and Yami have four (4) children, two of which were still in high school. Cinthia, their oldest, finished her DTS in June of 2006, and then later, in September of 2006, Mario and Yami began their DTS and did their outreach in Kenya, Africa. Eventually, Carla and Catalina, their other two daughters, did their DTS as well. Carla is currently doing a School of Dance in Montana and Catalina wants to do a Primary Health Care school. Their youngest - - Mario, just finished high school and has been accepted to a DTS in Argentina. He still needs school fees and airfare, so if you want to help, please let us know. He leaves the middle of April. When Mario finishes his DTS, all of their family will have completed their initial training with YWAM. Since we don't live on base, having the Sibaja family on base has been like having dorm parents for the young people that live there. Mario is a professional musician and many in his family are musical so he has been leading our worship times. Yami helps in the kitchen and does some of the hospitality. She is very creative and artistic and is always making beautiful things for the base. Last year however, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and is schedules to have surgery May 7th. Please keep her in your prayers. Cinthia helped to staff the last DTS and has been helping with the accounting of the base. Recently I have asked Mario to help with Administration and to serve on the base council. They are a talented family with lots of gifts and talents, but what stands out the most about them is their warmth, hospitality and willingness to do whatever is needed to be done. On any given day, they can be found grocery shopping, cooking, driving the bus, doing the banking, milking goats or leading worship. They are a real role model for many of our staff. In spite of their call and all their talents and abilities, they struggle to get any financial support. When their home church found out they would be going into missions full-time, they cut off all financial support to them. At this time, considering Yami's upcoming surgery, this is one of their biggest challenges. If you want to be a part of supporting the Sibaja family, please call us. They need your prayers and your support. They are an important part of our team and I don't know what we would do without them. We hold them in honor at this time for their wonderful example on our base and to all our friends and pray that God blesses them. Terry L.Keith
